A Palestinian child martyred, death toll up to 26

Friday; March 15, 2012

The number of Palestinian victims killed during the recent Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip rose to 26 martyrs after a 7-year old boy died of serious injuries on Wednesday morning.

Spokesman for Gaza emergency and ambulance committee Adham Abu Silmiya said in a TV program organized by the government information office that the martyrs included on woman and three children.

The Israeli attacks, which have not stopped since last Friday, rendered 96 Palestinians, 30 of them children, wounded and most of them are still receiving medical treatment in hospitals, Abu Silmiya stated.

The spokesman also highlighted that the emergency and ambulance committee developed a contingency plan able to address any scenario resulting from Israel's aggression against Gaza.

He emphasized that Israel has no regard for the lives of Palestinians and disproportionately uses excessive force to inflict the largest number of casualties among them, appealing to the international community to urgently move to stop Israel's atrocities in Gaza.

For his part, public relations officer at the ministry of works Mohamed Al-Askari said the Palestinian government headed by premier Ismail Haneyya decided to urgently compensate all citizens whose homes were destroyed or damaged in the recent Israeli attacks.

540 residential buildings in addition to three schools and three public facilities in Gaza were either partially or completely destroyed by Israeli aerial and artillary attacks, Askari added.
